Meet Georgia a 22 year old Fashion designer from West Sussex.

Can you tell me a bit about your background from before university?

Before Uni I did a foundation course in Brighton. It was hard work, but worth it as it helped me decide that I definitly wanted to do fashion.

Do you do mostly fashion or textile design, why?

I prefer fashion because I enjoy constructing the garments, although recently when I designed my own prints for my FMP it was nice to construct the garments from material that I had designed!

What was your final collection inspired by?

My FMP was inspired by deep sea creatures and I combined this with Japanese street fashion to create a bold and unique collection.

What do you feel is the most important thing you’ve learned these three years?

Time management! And also to follow your own thoughts and to not let others determine the outcome of your work too much. It’s your project at the end of the day! I found that when I was left to my own devices for FMP I produced what i believe to be my best work.

What about your collection do you like the most?

How different it is from other collections and other work i have done before. I also enjoyed using quirky fabrics.

Who inspires you?

David Attenborough! And also just everyday people on the streets. I love to people watch and get inspired by their outfits. I also love japanese street fashion, so i find books like FRUiTS inspiring. The designer who inspires me the most would be Christian Lacroix.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In a dark room sewing manically.

Thank you Goergia! Hopefully we’ll find you in a big sunlit room sewing manically instead 😉
